Major

Augmented

Major 7th
A major triad plus a major 7th — lush, warm, sophisticated.
Minor 7th
A minor triad plus a minor 7th — mellow, smooth, foundational in R&B and jazz.
Dominant 7th
A major triad plus a minor 7th — restless, contains a tritone, wants to resolve.
Half-Diminished 7th
Diminished triad plus a major third — appears on the ii of minor keys.
Diminished 7th
Fully diminished — four notes stacked in minor thirds, dramatic passing chord.
Sus2
A suspended chord with the 3rd replaced by the 2nd — open and unresolved.
Sus4
A suspended chord with the 3rd replaced by the 4th — tense, wants to resolve to the major or minor triad.
